Telling stories and creating lasting memories through professional photography
Lethbridge Sports is an independent media provider serving Lethbridge and Southern Alberta. We are a locally owned and community driven company, providing professional photography services and media coverage for sporting events at every level.
Our goal is simple: we want to bring the stories of our local athletes to the community. We strive to empower and inspire our local athletes by bringing their stories to life through phenomenal photography and engaging editorials.
Traditional media is doing an excellent job of telling us all what’s going on and what’s happened in our city. The gap we’re trying to fill is the player perspective. Who are our athletes, and what unique insight do they have to share about their sport?
We pair our best-in-class photojournalism tools and techniques with traditional editorial content to tell you the stories not of who-won-and-by-how-much as games occur - but who the players were, what the successes or losses meant for them, and their personal stories behind each match up.
Lethbridge Sports is also a local small business. We are a for-profit, but we also aren’t putting our profit ahead of our purpose.
Our product is what you see: engaging stories and phenomenal photos of our athletes representing Lethbridge at all levels.
Our Team
Colin moreland
Owner & Editor
Colin learned photography from some of the best photographers in the business. Following a lifelong interest in the art, he received direct instruction from photographers from National Geographic during an expedition to the Galapagos Islands. This instruction covered a diverse and technically demanding skill set which Colin has applied to a portfolio of over 800 shoots to date.
Colin has had 10 years of professional experience and has passed those skills and instruction along to the other members of the Lethbridge Sports team through collaboration, instruction, and mentorship.
Janise Michel
Head Photographer & Marketing Manager
Janise began working with Lethbridge Sports as an intern in the Fall of 2019. Seeking local opportunites in the sports media industry, Lethbridge Sports provided the perfect training grounds for Janise to develop her skillset and put her passion for sports to work.
Janise graduated from the University of Lethbridge in 2021 with a BFA in New Media and a minor in Marketing. After working in the advertising industry for a year, Janise left her desk job and began working with Lethbridge Sports full-time at the end of 2021, chasing her dreams of building a career as a sports photographer and content creator.
Blair Takahashi
Photographer
Southern Alberta born and raised, Blair has been active in the community coaching both at the minor and high school level.
He has covered events from Football Alberta, Calgary Colts Football, Alberta Dirt Riders Association and various rodeos, motorsports and team sports. When he’s not shooting sports he is exploring southern Alberta for wildlife or finding the details in macro photography.
